Things I Learned from Watching Cowboys and Aliens [spoiler-free]

  • Don’t mess with Daniel Craig
  • I want the button-up shirt+vest look to be the norm once again
  • You had white, straight teeth in the old west if you were a lead character
  • Harrison Ford shot first
  • They mostly come out at night. Mostly…
  • Every movie with aliens must have a scene where an alien gets really close to someone and touches their face
  • Daniel Craig is not afraid to kick you in the balls
  • “You’ve got some balls” was apparently a phrase used in the old west
  • Sci-fi and westerns go well together (um, Firefly. Of course, Firefly put the western in space, this put space in the western)
  • It’s perfectly fine to name a dog “dog”
  • Cowboys wore tight pants *coughMalcomReynoldscough*
  • Aliens must be really good at claw machines
  • Aliens always have smaller, hidden appendages #RAPTORCLAWS!
  • Olivia. Wilde. HotHotHotHotHotHotHotHotHotHotHotHotHotHotHotHotHot
  • Gold was a REALLY big deal at the time
  • Characters always get injured in the lower right abdomen
  • Harrison Ford gives awful fatherly advice #BeAMan
  • Everyone had blue eyes, despite it being a recessive gene
  • The areal shots were gorgeous
  • Aliens generally agree— revenge is a dish best served cold (e.g. scar faced alien [not to give anything away])
  • The old west was a major bro-fest (manly men are manly)
