You Should Be So Much Closer...

We all get really good at pretending to be alright
when we're away from the person we miss.
Distance and circumstances are unfair and unforgiving,
because no one should be without the one they want for too long.

It seems hearts aren't capable of reason and judgment;
at least mine isn't.
They should get time machines and teleporters when they decide to care so much,
just in case they suddenly demand an embrace and an intertwining of fingers.

Separation doesn't truly occur if two people are suppose to be together;
they can't possibly allow it to happen.
You dwell in each others memories of voice and smiles, laughs and touch,
they live in your past and in your dreams.

Distance is just something created and made up,
sometimes it only increases the amount of stupid feelings your heart emits.
And only when you don't have someone do you realize how much
you desperately need their love.
